The Importance Of One Vote
The most often heard excuse for not voting in an election is "my one little vote won't make a difference." Yet history is full of instances proving the enormous power of one single vote. In many cases, the course of nations has been changed because of one individual ballot cast or not cast. Consider:
One vote gave Oliver Cromwell control of England in 1645.
One vote caused Charles I of England to be executed in 1649.
One vote gave America the English (not German) language in 1776.
One vote brought Texas into the Union in 1845.
One vote saved President Andrew Johnson from removal from office in 1868.
One vote changed France from a monarchy to a republic in 1875.
One vote gave Rutherford B. Hayes the U.S. Presidency in 1876.
One vote gave Adolph Hitler leadership of the Nazi Party in 1923.
One vote saved the draft from revocation just weeks before Pearl Harbor was attacked in 1941.
One vote in the Wyoming Senate prevents women seeking abortion the right to full informed consent 02/25/2011.

All political power has been delegated by God. Romans 13:1
We hold these truths to be self-evident: That all men are created equal: that they are endowed with their Creator with certain inalienable rights: that among these are life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Thomas Jefferson
Because politics can protect the weak in the cause of justice, it can be a noble profession. And because the oppression of the weak is an offense against the image of God, politics is an urgent calling. Michael Gerson
